ARE CROSSOVER STORIES REALLY THAT GOOD OR ARE THEY CONFUSING?
Bakugan shopping StoreI hit a someone who wants to create a elector news with whatever cartoons including, but not restricted to, Sailor moon, Higurashi, Bakugan Battle Brawlers and Yu-Gi-Oh. While in the region of composition his story, he desired to communicate whatever of our friends what thy intellection of it. Half of them rattling savor what they are datum so farther and poverty him to continue, and the another half hit feature it and told him that he could closing it if he desired to, but it would embellish rattling unclear that grouping would hit a hornlike instance ownership up with it. So, today my someone is having a hornlike instance determining whether or not he should ready it feat or meet stop. Whenever he finds a artefact that he thinks module attain it inferior confusing, he runs into modify more problems. The digit reasons I alter this up to you, the people, is first, what do you every conceive he should do, and the ordinal think is, we undergo how a aggregation of grouping savor elector stories compared to non elector stories because since there are more characters, places, etc. There are more possibilities, but as digit of our friends place it, if you indite elector stories, at a destined point, you module retrograde road of what’s feat on and hit a hornlike instance ownership up with everything. With everything you hit feature so far, are crossovers ease beatific or is it meliorate meet to hit a news that is not a elector where it won’t be as confusing, if it becomes unclear at all?
I’m honestly shocked that anyone would write stories about that stuff in the first place but no, if approached correctly and written clearly, It shouldn’t be too confusing. Good luck.
It is just fan fiction so you’re basically debating if it is better with or without corn. Think about it, you know what I’m calling it.
Cross overs have always just been a cheesy way to try an expand the audience of a bad or mediocre comic, by exposing it to the larger audience of a good comic. This is the whole point of crossovers, a cheap marketing ploy, a way to sell yet another spiderman comic in a given month.
Crossover stories might be fun to write for yourself, but they have a smaller audience. Only people who are fans of all the series will understand exactly what’s going on.
Other people might read it because they recognize one or two of the series, but yes, it’ll be much more confusing for them, and probably a turn-off to read about other characters they don’t know.
I think it’s fine for your friend to write a crossover like that- as long as he doesn’t expect very many people to enjoy it.
I can’t imagine any story with that many fandoms involved being any good. I mean, how many main characters can you reasonably feature in one story? Five? How many main characters are you looking at having just with the four fandoms you mention?
I’ve seen a lot of stories with fandoms piled in just to give them a mention, and characters getting one line of dialogue each and one paragraph to show off their special ability. That’s not a story worth writing. No, people don’t enjoy stories just because there are more characters and places. They enjoy stories which have a good plot. That’s tough to do even with _two_ fandoms each of which has a full set of characters.
Been there. Done that. Two fandoms, five main characters in one and six in the other – even then, four of the characters got a pretty rough deal as far as being pushed aside goes. It’s simply impossible to do justice to that many main characters.
Crossover stories are my favorite type of stories to write however I don’t suggest most people to write or go and try to find some. They are, in general, complicated since what usually happens is that ppl write them to fit only their imagination, not to seem as if it were canon.
In order to write a true crossover story, you must know the similarities within the two or more canon storylines whether it could be plot or how the plot is presented such as if one was to write a Sailor Moon and Inuyasha crossover, they’d need to use the fact that they are both action storylines to account, take in also Rei Hino and Kagome look a lot alike and they’re both priestess, having those details makes the story process easier so that it will make sense. You can fill in gaps with the sinilarites then add your own originality while making it seem like it could be real.
Very few authors are good at that especially in recent years.
However, if your friend is doing a multicrossover (over three shows), I suggest don’t continue. It will be confusing especially if he doesn’t really have two main characters, not allowing everyone to be equal. Also, multicrossovers tend to just cone off as odd and unrealistic.
Crossovers are good when written correctly. Sometimes, they can even be great. However, a lot tend to be under thought out and unforgivenly horribly written.
